Brewery Background

American Solera is located in Tulsa, Oklahoma and opened in 2016. Founded by the husband and wife team of Chase and Erica Healy. Brewery is located in a 100 year old historically refurbished warehouse at 1702 East 6th Street, Tulsa, Oklahoma, 74104. Miller-Tippens Construction did an excellent job remodeling and it includes a stylish open fermentation room.

Didn’t take long for American Solera to get industry recognition by being named best new brewery in the United States by Rate Beer in 2016. Produced one of the top twenty beers for 2020 chosen by Craft Beer & Brewing Magazine, Coolship Roadtrip. Highly rated lambic ale that was a collaboration with Jester King Brewery (Austin, Texas).

American Solera focuses on brewing foeder aged ales, hazy pales ales and hazy IPAs. Psychedelic can art is used to advertise juicy hazy IPAs that are trending in the southwest USA states. Their double dry hopped (DDH) IPAs are deceptively smooth for beers with 8.0%+ ABV. Flagships beers (Slap IPA, Pals Pale Ale and Terpy IPA) have multiple iterations brewed during the calendar year. Most batches are distributed using four packs of twelve ounce cans. Helps keep it cold while drinking in humid southwest USA summer weather. Current taplist includes oak aged lager, sour, pale ale, IPA, imperial stout, barleywine, BBA imperial stout and hard seltzer.

Tulsa is now a must vacation stop in May 2022, to attend the PGA Championship at Southern Hills Country Club and sample tasty beers downtown at American Solera.

Sports Comparison for this Libation

  • Robert Finke, gold medalist in men’s 800M and 1500M freestyle swimming at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. Summer Olympics opened a year late on 7/23/21 due to Covid-19. There were questions about the athletes health and if NBC’s television coverage would be entertaining without fans in attendance. The face of the Olympics, Simon Biles, got off to a rocky start due to having a case of the twisties and withdrawing from the women’s gymnastics events. Sports fans were waiting for an unknown athlete to step forward with a special performance.
  • On 7/27/21, Finke stood on the starting blocks in Lane 3 with no expectations of medaling. For the first 750M, he paced himself and stayed in the top 4-5 swimmers. During the last 50M, Finke found a new gear by tracking down the leaders and blowing past them during the last 25M. It was a race that defied the experts predictions and provided a precious moment.
  • To prove that result wasn’t a fluke, Finke was in Lane 5 for the 1500M on 7/31/21. This race he turned the jets on with 50M left and easily moved from third to first and won comfortably. Was Finke’s second precious moment winning with Katie Ledecky watching in the stands, and his twin sisters rooting him on tv from a watch party in Florida. Finke proved that in all sports, it isn’t how you start, its how you finish. Two precious moments from the 2020 Tokyo Olympics that will be remembered in swimming history, compliment a great hazy DIPA to be shared with family, friends and beer geeks.
