Brewery Background

  • Holy Mountain Brewing opened in early 2015 in the Interbay neighborhood of Seattle, Washington. Filled an immediate void in the Seattle craft beer market by focusing on barrel aging, mixed fermentation and classic Belgian ales. Opening night was a huge success with a line out the door of excited patrons. That quickly changed to long lines of beer geeks waiting for special releases until Covid-19 regulations hit in 2020. One of the first Seattle based breweries to implement curbside service in April 2020. Added shipping to Washington state addresses in December 2020 with ordering options: 12 cans, 24 cans and bomber bottles. Deliveries typically arrive in 1-3 days. I’ve been lucky to complete curbside pickup twice and was the recipient of one of their earliest shipments (order #7). Wits, saisons and sours are top notch, but I keep going back for their hazy pale ales and west coast IPAs. When I drink a Holy Mountain beer the word that pops into my mind is refined. Each batch is refined flavor wise due to the unique ingredients Holy Mountain uses. Aren’t simply filling a beer void in Seattle, they are pushing the boundaries of experimental brews turning into exceptional brews.
  • Collaborated with Fort George Brewing and Ruse Brewing for the 2018 version of 3-Way IPA. Released in late May 2018 and continued distribution until late September 2018. One of the few hazy IPAs that improve with each batch. I’m assuming that Holy Mountain continues that “improvement practice” due to the variants they produce are typically better than the original recipes.

Sports Comparison for this Libation

  • Nathan MacKinnon, center for the Colorado Avalanche. MacKinnon is currently the alternate captain for the Avalanche and is off to a good start for the 2020-2021 NHL season with 25 points (8 goals and 17 assists). During the Memorial Cup tournament in 2013, MacKinnon was a man among boys with 7 goals and 6 assists in 4 games, leading his team to the championship. Won MVP honors and was picked #1 overall in the 2013 NHL draft. His junior level skills immediately translated to the NHL when he won the Rookie of the Year in 2013-2014. Since that season, MacKinnon is always near the NHL leaders in goals and total points, but more importantly he has raised the level of play for the entire Avalanche team to strong playoff runs in 2018, 2019 and 2020. All NHL defensemen are learning in 2021 that MacKinnon’s bag of offensive tricks not only change game to game, but sometimes shift by shift, very similar to fruit candy. You never know what you might get.
