Brewery Background

American Solera is located in Tulsa, Oklahoma and opened in 2016. Founded by the husband and wife team of Chase and Erica Healy. Brewery is located in a 100 year old historically refurbished warehouse at 1702 East 6th Street, Tulsa, Oklahoma, 74104. Miller-Tippens Construction did an excellent job remodeling and it includes a stylish open fermentation room.

Didn’t take long for American Solera to get industry recognition by being named best new brewery in the United States by Rate Beer in 2016. Produced one of the top twenty beers for 2020 chosen by Craft Beer & Brewing Magazine, Coolship Roadtrip. Highly rated lambic ale that was a collaboration with Jester King Brewery (Austin, Texas).

American Solera focuses on brewing foeder aged ales, hazy pales ales and hazy IPAs. Psychedelic can art is used to advertise juicy hazy IPAs that are trending in the southwest USA states. Their double dry hopped (DDH) IPAs are deceptively smooth for beers with 8.0%+ ABV. Flagships beers have multiple iterations brewed during the calendar year (Slap IPA, Pals Pale Ale and Terpy IPA). Most are distributed using four packs of twelve ounce cans, helps keep it cold while drinking in humid summer weather. Current taplist includes oak aged lager, sour, pale ale, IPA, DIPA, imperial stout, barleywine, BBA imperial stout and hard seltzer.

Tulsa is now a must vacation stop in May 2022, to attend the PGA Championship at Southern Hills Country Club and sample tasty beers downtown at American Solera.

Sports Comparison for this Libation

  • Baker Mayfield, QB for the Cleveland Browns. Best walk-on player in NCAA Division 1 football history when he transferred from Texas Tech to University of Oklahoma in 2014. Won the Heisman Trophy in 2017 and played in an incredible Rose Bowl game against Georgia on 1/1/18. Drafted first overall in the 2018 NFL Draft by the Cleveland Browns. Snapped the Browns nineteen game losing streak by winning his first game as starting QB in week 1 of the 2018 season. Led the Browns to an 11-5 record in 2020, beat the Pittsburgh Steelers on the road in the Wild Card round, and scared the Kansas City Chiefs in the divisional round. Mayfield’s leadership ended an eighteen year playoff drought for the Browns franchise and their life long fans.

Historical Denver Broncos Connection

  • John Elway “owned” the Cleveland Browns during his QB career with the Denver Broncos, due to winning three AFC Championships during the 1986, 1987 and 1989 NFL seasons. Elway really liked Mayfield’s natural leadership skills in the huddle and at the line of scrimmage. Broncos were rumored to potentially move up in the 2018 NFL draft to take Mayfield. Decided to remain at the #5 pick and choose Bradley Chubb, DE from N.C. State. Three NFL seasons since the 2018 draft have put the Broncos on a clear path to mediocrity and the Browns are trending up in a big way.
That’s football karma due to what Elway did the Browns in the 1980s and now for passing on a franchise QB.
  • Mayfield elevated the Oklahoma Sooners offense during the 2015 season, fine tuned it during 2016 and reached an elite level in 2017 before handing the QB reins to Kyler Murray. American Solera has been following a similar path with a solid entry in the craft brewing market in 2016 and they continue to trend up across their entire beer portfolio. The future is so bright, Mayfield and American Solera better start wearing shades.
