Brewery Background

Fremont Brewing is located in Seattle, Washington and opened in 2009. They focused on two beers to start their business, Universale Pale and Interurban IPA. After they perfected those beer recipes, they expanded their portfolio at a deliberate pace. Fremont’s current portfolio has six year round beers, three rotating IPA series, four special releases and their exceptional barrel-aged series with seven annual beers. Fremont’s top notch barrel aging program due to the quality and flavors they have been producing over the last ten years. The Rusty Nail, Anniversary Stout, B-Bomb, and BBA Dark Star have incredible flavor profiles. They age well if cellared for 1-5 years.

Head Full Of Dynomite Background

Head Full Of Dynomite HFOD V.27 IPA is a rotating hazy IPA series that started in November 2017. A new version is released every 60 days. Based on my palate, version 2, 8, 11, 18, 2018 Fresh Hop and 2019 Fresh Hop were memorable, but lately the hop profiles have become busy with too many flavors. This has led to the last twelve months of good but not great versions that start to blend together flavor wise. Due to focusing on one hop (Mosaic) in version 27, that’s a great step in the right direction to differentiate each version.

Fremont adjusted to the new Covid regulations in 2020 by opening a drive up mercantile store for to-go orders of beer and merchandise. They completely revamped their outdoor beer garden space to comply with social distancing dimensions. Were proactive with staff tracing when positive tests occurred. Fremont Brewing was founded with a simple slogan “Because Beer Matters”. I can’t agree more with that mission statement as all beer geeks navigate 2021 and trying a new normal beer routine.

Sports Comparison for this Libation

  • Russell Wilson, quarterback (QB) of the Seattle Seahawks. Wilson is currently the best professional sports athlete in Seattle by a landslide. One ill-timed interception away in Super Bowl 49 from being the king of the city. Named to the NFL Pro-Bowl eight times. Holds the NFL record for the most wins by a QB through nine seasons. Wilson is a natural born leader and a perfect fit since being named the starting QB in 2012. Led the Seahawks to Super Bowl championship for the 2013 season, but this current off-season has been different. Wilson has asked for more input on calling offensive plays and personel. His agent stated four teams he would accept being traded to. I’m hoping Wilson’s discontent might be coming from a member of his entourage. All he needs to do is spend some time at Fremont Brewing with the local community. He’ll see that Seattle is one of the greatest cities in the world. Get that QB a cold beer fast and some offensive lineman who know how to block.
